Batgirl Gail Simone-who writes the DC comic Batgirl-has said on twitter that Julie would make a perfect Batgirl when they met at the Supanova convention.
She does look a lot like the character, that's for sure.

The Start Of G.A.DI finally decided to get G.A.D up and running.
I promised all my fans on hatena that I would continue G.A.D as a comic on DA.
Well here it is yay!
I'm really excited my goal by the end of chapter one of the series is to have up to 1000 watchers/deviants for this group.

Manga Artist Needed (contest~?)Alright, done with High School. Now I'm officially looking for an artist to tackle drawing my first manga series. I need someone with a somewhat shoujo-y style who can do poses, backgrounds, etc in a professional manner and capture the characters from my designs and scripts. Anyone who does doujinshi is encouraged to enter. This is a contest commission for basically a job as a manga artist. I'll be accepting submissions for the next 2 months or so of original art. Those that interest me in style will receive character and costume designs to draw. From there, I'll test perhaps a final 5 for the first couple of pages. Whomever wins will receive commission pay and a percentage of profit per volume. I DO intend to publish this manga, it isn't a fan-work for DA. I will send scripts as the story for the panels to follow, and put it together and take care of copyright and publishing business. Good luck, DA artists~

My Little School: In Which Opinions are HadI was asked to read this guy's comic called "My Little School" and write a review of it. Two thoughts came to mind, "why me?" and "why not?" My full qualifications for posting a review on the internet are "has opinions" and "can use a computer" which I think are pretty awesome qualifications. The answer to the question "why not" was more complex because I have this code of honour that involves honesty and not being too much of a dick, and here I was getting something for free in order to publicly review it. I just hoped it wouldn't be incredibly bad, because that'd be awkward for everyone involved

So anyway, here's my review of "My Little School" by Pedro Correia!

The art has a few things that I like about it: the character designs are distinct, and the poses are varied (there's actually perspective and backgrounds and stuff going on). Hi! I'm Kez, a member of the SpiderForest webcomic collective ([link]. SF is accepting applications for new members until July 24th. SF is home to over 30 comics of multiple genres and ratings. Twice yearly we take applications, and all current members go over each application (and comic!) in depth before voting on it for entry. It's a time-consuming process, so we take applications pretty rarely.

There are only 3 requirements for membership: update your comic (preferably at least once weekly), vote in new members when the time comes, and display the rotating SF banner above the fold on your site.

While many members have DA accounts and display their comics here, DA is not an optimal place to showcase a comic. Many webcomic readers hate to read comics on DA because of ads, slowness of loading, and the lack of other information (like cast/about/archive pages). SF offers a FREE and quality home for your webcomic, with an easy to use archival code in standard webcomic format that allows first/prev/next/last buttons and news articles. Members will also assist you in coding and set up if you have no experience with HTML/CSS.

The artist of Gestalt does these great pages, but it'll only just reach 15 pages tomorrow. I know judges try to be fair, but I'm sure other applicants have longer entries than our own, so I'm not sure how it would measure up to theirs. Do you think having only the bare minimum number of pages so far would count against us?

It shouldn't. A lot of what we look for is potential. 15 pages just gives us a good idea of writing. Any less, and we have no idea whatsoever.
